FAQ
Common questions: differences with SimHub, OS support, open source, pricing, availability, supported sims, contributions.
Why not SimHub?
SimHub is a great tool, very complete, and we respect it. But SimHub lives inside your game screen (overlays) or drives existing dashboards. SimLogix comes with its own hardware (the R-Box) designed specifically as a dedicated Pit Lane Timer, sitting outside your primary line of sight. Different approach, different philosophy. The two can coexist without trouble.
Compatible with Linux or Mac?
Not for now. The SimLogix v1 app targets Windows 10 / 11 only, because the targeted simulators (iRacing, Assetto Corsa) run natively on Windows and expose their telemetry via OS-specific APIs. Linux/Mac support is not planned in the short term.
The R-Box itself, being a USB-C device with a standard protocol (USB CDC), can technically be driven from any OS — it would just need a suitable client.
Is it open source?
No, not at this stage. The code is not distributed under an open-source license and the project stays developed in-house. Whether to open it later (source-available, a permissive license, or otherwise) will be reconsidered after v1.
How much does the R-Box cost?
The target price is around €120 for the assembled and tested v1. That price reflects component costs (ESP32-S3, 3.12” SSD1322 OLED screen, printed/machined enclosure, USB-C, buttons, LEDs) plus a reasonable margin for two enthusiasts producing in small batches.
When is it available?
The project is in prototype phase. Estimated v1 ETA: Q3 2026, subject to change. The best way to follow progress and get notified first: the waitlist.
Which simulators are supported?
At v1 release:
- iRacing — priority 1, already working on the engine side.
- Assetto Corsa — priority 2, planned for v1.
Considered post-v1: Assetto Corsa Competizione, rFactor 2, Le Mans Ultimate. The engine is built to be extensible — adding a sim means writing a connector that talks its API.
What about third-party peripherals?
The SimLogix app aims to drive common sim racing peripherals: LCD dashboards, RPM LED bars, button boxes. Compatibility depends on the protocols used by each brand. A precise list will be published with v1.
Does the app work without the R-Box?
Yes. The SimLogix app can be used on its own to drive peripherals other than the R-Box. And the R-Box can be used on its own (with a v0 mode that does not need the full UI). The two products are designed together but remain independent.
How can I contribute?
At this stage, the project is actively developed by two people and does not accept external code contributions. User feedback, however, is welcome. You can:
